The chances are pretty high that you heard about CBD recently. But what is it? How do you use it? And most importantly: why should you use it? These and more frequently asked questions about CBD get answered in this article, so keep reading if you’re interested in CBD products!

What is ‘CBD’ exactly?

Let’s start this CBD article by looking at what CBD is. CBD is short for “Cannabidiol”. This is a compound of the cannabis-plant. Next to CBD, there are over 100 other hemp-compounds, also called “cannabinoids”, “terpenes” and “flavonoids”. CBD is used as a supplement, and it is 100% natural.

Why should you use CBD products?

So; why should you use CBD products as a supplement? The answer to this question is that CBD has many potential benefits. A lot of people use it to reduce feelings of pain, anxiety and depression. However; CBD has many more potential health benefits!

How do you use CBD?

Let’s continue this CBD article by looking at how to use CBD. CBD is available in a lot of different products. The most common one is CBD oil, also known as ‘CBD tinctures’. The oil in these tinctures needs to be taken ‘sublingually’, which means putting the CBD drops under your tongue, and let it absorb there. It’s recommended to always take CBD oil like this instead of swallowing it directly, as it doesn’t absorb very good otherwise.

Besides CBD oil tinctures, other CBD products are; oral products (such as gummy bears and capsules), topicals for skin (such as balms, lotions and creams) and CBD concentrates.

Each method has its own pros and cons. For instance; CBD tinctures tend to be the cheapest in the long run. CBD edibles on the other hand are the easiest to use and are convenient to take with you outside. CBD concentrates have the highest CBD content, and are very versatile as you can use them in a lot of different ways. As everyone’s personal preference differs, we always recommend to look into the pros and cons of each method, to decide which one suits you best!

Can CBD get you high?

Because CBD comes from the cannabis plant, a lot of people wonder if it can get you high. The answer to that question is no. The compound in cannabis that gets people high is called THC. CBD on the other hand isn’t psychoactive, which means it can’t get you high. Also; there is practically no THC in CBD products; 0 to max 0.3%, which is by far not enough to get you high. Because CBD products contain a maximum of 0.3% THC, they are 100% legal in every state of the US, and in most other countries as well.

Can CBD make you test positive on a test?

Another thing a lot of people wonder is if CBD products make you test positive. The answer to this question is: sometimes. Why? Because it depends on which kind of CBD product you’re using. CBD isolate products are made of pure CBD without any other hemp-compounds. This means that they contain 0% THC, so they won’t test you positive. However, there are also “full spectrum” CBD products available. These are made of a whole hemp plant. This means that full spectrum products have stronger potential benefits, but also the possibility to make you test positive when taking too much, as they contain a little bit of THC (< 0.3%). Even though this is only very little, it still can be possible that it makes you test positive. So; are you afraid of getting tested? Then always take isolate CBD products, as they won’t make you test positive! Another less common alternative is called “broad spectrum”. These kind of products are also made of a whole hemp plant (just like full spectrum), but without THC (like isolate). So basically broad spectrum has the best of both worlds!

 The best CBD oil

As you may have noticed, there are a lot of CBD oil brands on the market. Among them are several of good ones, but also quite a lot of bad ones unfortunately. That’s why I recommend to check this buyers guide before buying any CBD oil. This way you can avoid paying too much for a bad brand, because quality is really important. Bad quality products will work less effective or even not at all.

Dosing of CBD

A lot of people don’t know how to dose CBD oil. There are a couple of things to take in consideration when it comes to the CBD dosage;

– First; every person is different. What might work for one person, might not work for you. Besides that; each condition is different as well (as people use CBD for a wide range of conditions. One may be more severe than the other one).

– So; to find your personal CBD dosage, we always recommend doing the following: Start very low, so only take a few drops of CBD oil. Wait one hour, and check how you feel. Don’t feel anything? Then take a few drops more than you did the first time. Keep repeating this process until you’ve found your desired dosage! It’s important to always start low and build up in small steps because you don’t want to take too much. Although too much CBD isn’t dangerous, it still can become expensive when taking too much every time.

The bottom line

As you see, there’s a lot of information you need to know about CBD before using it. When you understand these basics though, it can be a wonderful supplement that can help you a lot in your daily life!
